Public sector trade union denounces NICA Act

NSCAG News | on: Friday, 1 September 2017

The National Executive of public sector union UNE has issued the following statement:-

In light of the proposed NICA Act, which means that we are faced once again by the prospect of imperialist interference which aims once more to attack us, UNE’s members in the public sector have made the following statement:-

1) The proposed law will affect the way in which our country has developed in peace, harmony and dignity

2) That certain sectors of our society have sold out by going cap in hand to the United States to seek approval of this ignominious decree

3) The proposed law is in violation of our sovereignty, independence and self-determination

4) We therefore condemn wholeheartedly the actions of the right wing opposition who are seeking to sell out our country

5) We categorically reject and repudiate this shameless expression of imperialist intervention

6) We demand respect for our sovereignty, independence and self-determination

7) We reaffirm our unshakeable commitment to continue strengthening our Christian, socialist and solidarity model

8) We demand compliance with the International Court of Justice decision for payment of the 17 billion US dollars in compensation for the damage caused to our country by the criminal war of aggression launched against our people during the 80s

9) Now more than ever, Nicaragua’s public sector workers and the Nicaraguan people must redouble our efforts to win a majority for the FSLN in the municipal elections to be held in November.

WE ARE ON THE RIGHT PATH AND WE WILL NEVER GO BACK.
