2nd Teacher Exchange Visit to take place this summer

NSCAG News | on: Thursday, 1 February 2018

Following a successful programme in summer 2017, the NEU – NUT Section, in partnership with ANDEN (the Nicaraguan teachers’ union), the Nicaraguan Ministry of Education and the Nicaragua Solidarity Campaign Action Group (NSCAG), is once again organising a teacher exchange visit to Nicaragua.

The NEU - NUT Section is seeking 10 members to take part in this once in a lifetime opportunity. The project will build the English language and teaching skills of Nicaraguan colleagues, while simultaneously strengthening the experience and knowledge of Spanish language teachers from the UK and providing an immersive teaching experience in the Nicaraguan education system.

For more information about the exchange, visit https://www.teachers.org.uk/news-events/events/spanish-teacher-exchange-nicaragua.

and/or email Louise on nscag@nicaraguasc.org.uk (tel:020 7 561 4836)

'The teacher exchange allowed me an amazing opportunity to develop professionally through improving my own linguistic skills in Spanish through the opportunity to live with a family and the need to speak in Spanish all the time. Additionally I gained a massive insight into Nicaraguan / Latin America culture which I will now be able to share with my own students in UK. I also learnt a lot of new teaching ideas from the other members of the group we travelled with. Something which I really enjoyed which I hope to bring back and implement in my school here is their talent contest in a different language.' - Catherine, delegation member.

A video was produced after the visit last year and can be found at
