UNE sends message of solidarity to UK unions

NSCAG News | on: Monday, 26 October 2015

In advance of the lobby taking place on 2 November against the Trade Union Bill, the Nicaraguan public sector union UNE has sent the following message of solidarity:-

'We are fully aware of the abuses being carried out by the corrupt neo-liberal government in the United Kingdom and that they are proposing reforms which will seriously undermine trade union rights and freedoms in the UK. The proposed Trade Union Bill violates the norms of the International Labour Organisation relating to trade union freedom, the right to collective bargaining and the right to strike. These are rights that we have fought for and from which there must be no going back. The only way to defend these rights in the UK is to unite and mobilise and take to the streets as workers and as citizens, because the position of the UK government is to roll back the rights of both. We stand with you in your fight for trade union rights and always in solidarity'. Domingo Perez, General Secretary, UNE, Nicaragua
