Public sector union UNE celebrates 43rd anniversary

NSCAG News | on: Thursday, 25 March 2021

On 26 March, public sector union UNE (Union Nacional de Empleados) will celebrate its 43rd anniversary.

UNE was founded in 1978 under the slogan 'For the Revolutionary State Transformation′ for the purpose of defending the labour rights of Nicaraguan workers.

UNE remains committed to affecting state transformations, being a socio-political organisation and a fundamental part of the National Workers Front FNT serving the working class and public servants.

Representing both state and municipal workers, one of UNE's main aims is to defend public services and to strongly oppose any attempts at privatisation. The union guarantees the active and sustained participation of women and young people to fight for and continue the positive transformation of state institutions and defend the victories of the working class.

UNE has expressed its strong support for the Sandinista National Liberation Front FSLN.

NSCAG congratulates UNE on achieving this important milestone in its history.
