Women's Delegation to Nicaragua, August 2022 - Women in Nicaragua: Power and Protagonism

Nicaragua is a world leader in gender equality. In just 15 years, Nicaragua has closed the gender gap by more than 80%. Today, Nicaragua is the number one country in the world for educational attainment for women and girls, number one for women cabinet ministers and number three in the world for women in parliament. How has this small Central American country made such a difference in such a short time? Join this forthcoming delegation to find out!

Alliance for Global Justice and its project the Nicaragua Network are teaming up with Casa Benjamin Linder, a solidarity cultural center and education project of the Jubilee House Community-Center for Development in Central America to sponsor this important delegation to Nicaragua.

The delegation will take place from 6 – 15 August 2022 (Arrive in-country no later than 6th Aug, leave 15th Aug). The total in-country cost for the all-inclusive 9 day visit is $675 (ca £514) which covers meals, hotels, interpreting and entrance fees. Air fare costs must be paid by delegates themselves.

Activities during the visit will include

  • Meet with women in parliament
  • Talk with women entrepreneurs
  • Explore programmes benefitting women in health, education & infrastructure
  • Visit women’s worker-owned co-ops · Learn about Nicaragua’s fight to end violence against women
